Unusual starting time as Bucks, Nets get ready to tip off

Seeking a three-game winning streak and their seventh victory in eight games, the Milwaukee Bucks are set to host the Brooklyn Nets in an unusual 4 p.m. start at Fiserv Forum.

The Bucks are coming off back-to-back victories over the New York Knicks, the most recent on Thursday night, The Nets (17-20) are coming off a 100-87 loss Friday night at Charlotte and arrived in Milwaukee in the early morning hours, so the earlier-than-usual start may affect them.

With Toronto’s 116-87 loss at Orlando on Friday, the Bucks (24-10) now have the best record in the NBA by three percentage points.

The Nets had won nine of 10, including a seven-game winning streak, before Friday’s loss. Before that, they had an eight-game losing streak.

Guard Caris Levert led the Nets in scoring at 18.4 points per game before suffering an ugly dislocated ankle injury in Nov. 12. He may return at some point this season but is out indefinitely. D’Angelo Russel (17.9) and Spencer Dinwiddie (17.7) have picked up the slack. Former Buck Jared Dudley is playing a veteran leadership role similar to the one he played in Milwaukee three years ago.

This is the second game of a six-game homestand for the Bucks. Giannis Antetokounmpo leads Milwaukee in scoring (26.5), rebounding, (12.8) assists (5.9) and field goal percentage (58.1%).
