Bucks host Hornets looking for 50th victory

The schedule favors the Milwaukee Bucks tonight as they take on the Charlotte Hornets at Fiserv Forum.

The Hornets are playing the second game of a back-to-back, having scored a 112-111 victory over the Washington Wizards at home Friday night.

The Bucks rested Friday night after a 117-98 victory over the Indiana Pacers Thursday night. Giannis Antetokounmpo took over that game after a third-quarter technical foul.

The 30-35 Hornets are fighting for one of the Eastern Conference’s last playoff spots. They enter tonight in a virtual tie for ninth place with the Orlando Magic, one game behind eighth-place Miami.

The Bucks are looking for a second straight victory to cancel out their first two-game losing streak of the season.

Milwaukee also is looking for its 50th win of the season. The Bucks have had just one 50-win season (2000-’01) since the 1986-’87 season ended a streak of seven seasons with at least 50 wins. They won at least 50 games in five straight seasons from 1970-’74.

The Bucks lead the Toronto Raptors by 2 1/2 games for the best record in the NBA. They are four games better than Western Conference leader Golden State (45-20), which is still considered a favorite for the NBA title.

Kemba Walker leads the Hornets at 24.9 points and 5.8 assists per game.

Antetokounmpo leads the Bucks in scoring (27.1), rebounding (12.6) and assists (6.0).

The Bucks lead the season series, 2-1.

The game is tipping off at 8 p.m. instead of the normal Saturday night starting time of 7:30, because Marquette University hosted Georgetown in the afternoon in a game that didn’t finish till after 3:30.

The Bucks leave immediately after the game for San Antonio, with a Sunday game there beginning a three-game road trip that also includes stops in New Orleans Tuesday and Miami Friday.
