Roaring out of the gate, the Milwaukee Bucks seem intent on heading to Toronto with a 2-0 lead.
Giannis Antetokounmpo dunked for the game’s first two baskets, and Nikola Mirotic scored the next five after that. The bench took over from there, and the Bucks have jumped out to a 64-39 lead over the Toronto Raptors in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals.
Ersan Ilyasova put on a rare offensive display to lead all scorers with 15 points, and Malcolm Brogdon added another 12 off the bench as the Bucks have dominated.
Mirotic also has 15 for the Bucks, and Antetokounmpo posted 11 as the Fiserv Forum crowd has roared its approval from the opening ntip.
After the Bucks jumped to their 9-0 lead, Toronto came back to 14-9 and appeared to have weathered a storm.
A 3-pointer by Ilyasova and a dunk by Antetokounmpo pushed the lead to 19-9, but the Raptors got back within 21-15. Then Brogdon drilled consecutive 3-pointers to cap a 10-0 run, and the Raptors suddenly faced a 31-15 deficit. The Bucks lead, 35-21, after one, and their suffocating defense continually stymied the Toronto offense.
Kawhi Leonard leads the Raptors with 11 points, but he has only been able to get five shots up as the Bucks continually surround him and force him to give up the ball.
Leonard is 4 for 5. The rest of the Raptors are 11 for 36 (30.6%).
