Milwaukee lands on Chicago Tribune’s list of must-see places in 2019

MILWAUKEE — The Brew City is a great place to live, but it also is a great place to visit.

The Chicago Tribune

selected Milwaukee as one of its nine must-see destinations worth a visit in 2019.

The paper cited the upcoming relaunch of

America’s Black Holocaust Museum

in a new building in Bronzeville as one of the reasons to visit. The original museum, which was opened in 1984 by lynching survivor James Cameron, closed in 2008 because of financial problems.

The Tribune also mentioned

Fiserv Forum,

which hosts athletic events, concerts and maybe the Democratic National Convention in 2020. The Milwaukee Bucks and Marquette Golden Eagles have started strong at the venue, winning nearly all of their games.

Other must-see venues, according to the Tribune, include

Potawatomi Hotel & Casino,

the historic

Pfister

and the East Side’s new

Crossroads Collective

that features barbecue, crepes, tacos and scoops of homegrown

Scratch Ice Cream.

The other cities or attractions selected by the Tribune are St. Paul, Minnesota; Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Detroit; Columbus, Ohio; St. Louis; the Frank Lloyd Wright Trail in Illinois; the Great Lakes Bay Region; and Des Moines, Iowa.
