Malcolm Brogdon scored 15 first-half points to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a 63-59 lead over the Denver Nuggest at the half Sunday night in a game featuring strong offense and little defense.
Four Bucks starters reached double figures in the first 24 minutes, as Giannis Antetokounmpo posted 12 points and Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez had 10 each.
While the Bucks had a nice offensive half, shooting 62.5% (25 of 40), they had no answer on the defensive end for Nuggets forward Paul Millsap. Doing much of his damage from behind the arc, Millsap posted 23 first-half points, including 5-of-6 shooting on 3-pointers. Millsap also went to the line 11 times, making eight. Interestingly, he was 0 for 3 on his 2-point attempts.
Denver held a 35-33 lead after one, making 14 of 23 shots (60.9%).
Tony Snell’s 3-pointer pushed the Bucks to a 44-42 lead with 6:26 left in the half.
From there, neither team led by more than three until Brogdon’s 3-pointer at the buzzer gave the Bucks a 63-59 lead at the break.
The Bucks defense stiffened in the second period, holding Denver to 7-of-19 shooting (36.8%).
