Entering his first season with the Milwaukee Bucks, we laid out and detailed five goals for Pat Connaughton to achieve throughout the 2018-19 NBA season.

One of the few newcomers to the Milwaukee Bucks’ roster from over the summer, Pat Connaughton is embracing the latest opportunity in his still nascent career.

Having previously spent his first three seasons in the league as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers, Connaughton had only started to scratch the surface in his playing career last year by serving a consistent role on a Blazers team that finished with 48 wins and as the third seed in the Western Conference.

After the Blazers were promptly swept by the New Orleans Pelicans in the playoffs, Connaughton’s appearances in the series turned out to be his last in a Blazers’ uniform as the front office elected to rescind his qualifying offer to make him an unrestricted free agent right before the start of free agency.

Of course, it was the Bucks that decided to take a worthy flyer on Connaughton in late July by signing the multi-sport athlete to a two-year, partially guaranteed deal.

When speaking on what attracted him to come to Milwaukee at this year’s Bucks Media Day held late last month, Connaughton listed the usual benefits in both the caliber of players he’ll play alongside as well as the style of play that’s being instituted with the high profile coaching change they made over the offseason:

“I think a mixture of Coach Bud, the coaching staff, the style of play they like to have both offensively and defensively, spreading the floor, as well as playing with the guys who are here. Guys like Tony [Snell] and Malcolm [Brogdon], and Giannis [Antetokounmpo], Khris [Middleton] Bled[soe], all of them really, I could go down the list. Just being on a team that’s hungry to win, hungry to get deeper into the playoffs. I was fortunate to be on a playoff team the last three years, one year we made it to the second round, the other years we got stopped in the first round, so that same type of mentality to grow as a unit together.”

So without further ado, let’s dive in and preview Connaughton’s 2018-19 season and look at the various ways he could impact the Bucks and take the next steps in his career.
